My 2024 Mastering Link Building course on web courses.in will teach you some advanced link-building techniques that I’m excited to share as an SEO expert with more than 7 years of experience. Building links is still one of the most important SEO ranking factors in 2024, but the ways to do it have changed a lot. Read below about “Advanced Link Building Techniques in the 2024 Mastering Link Building Course”.
You can get a sneak peek at some of the creative strategies I’ve used to help clients in this post. I’ll talk more about them in detail in my upcoming course.
Table of Contents
Earned Media Outreach
Outreach to the media is one of the best white-hat ways to build links these days. To do this, you need to get in touch with relevant publications and journalists and pitch ideas that are likely to get covered and lead to a backlink. A business-to-business software company was one of my clients. I found tech reporters who write about their field and offered them an exclusive on a new feature the client was releasing. This led to a feature article in a well-known tech magazine that linked back to my client’s website.
It’s important to do a lot of research on writers and outlets, make sure that pitches are tailored to each person, and give good story ideas. I’ll talk about how to find the right journalists, write compelling pitch emails, and follow up in a way that increases the chances of getting published. Earned media outreach can get a lot of good backlinks if you use the right strategy.
Skyscraping Content
Skyscraper content means making content that is much better than the top-ranking content for a keyword right now. The goal is to make it so tempting for other people to link to your content instead of the other options. I will teach you how to look at the top 10 results for a keyword and find content gaps and chances to make something 10 times better in my course.
One client, for instance, wanted to rank for the keyword “benefits of meditation.” The content that was already there wasn’t very thick. We wrote a definitive 3,000-word guide with 50 scientifically proven benefits and got over 80 backlinks from major publications. When there isn’t enough content for middle- and long-tail keywords, skyscraping works best. I’ll show you my step-by-step plan for finding these chances and making skyscraper content that people can’t stop watching.
Broken Link Building
Broken link building entails identifying broken links on high authority sites pointing to outdated or removed content, then creating relevant replacement content on your own site and reaching out to request a link. I have been able to achieve links on highly reputable .edu and .gov sites doing this at scale.
The key factors I will cover include:
- Automated tools to crawl the web and identify broken links
- Tips on recreating the lost content
- Outreach templates that motivate site owners to update the link
When done right, this can provide a steady stream of high quality backlinks. I’ll share the exact outreach templates that have worked for me to achieve a 70%+ success rate.
Guestographic Outreach
Guest posting is still alive and well in 2024, but the outreach strategy has evolved. Low quality guest posts on spammy sites can actually hurt your rankings. In my course, I teach how to identify high authority websites accepting contributor posts and how to pitch relevant article ideas.
For example, I landed my client, an HR technology company, guest posts on leading HR and business publications by providing post ideas tailored to each site’s audience on trends in performance management software. This generated impactful backlinks. I’ll provide a step-by-step process for identifying guest posting opportunities, crafting compelling pitches, and writing posts optimized for links.
My secret sauce has helped students achieve guest posts and links from the likes of Forbes, Entrepreneur, Business Insider and more.
Link Reclamation
If your competitors have gained links that you deserve, link reclamation is an effective tactic for getting those sites to link to you instead. This involves identifying pages linking to competitors but relevant to your content and outreaching to inform them of your superior content.
For example, a moving company client found several of its competitors had links from “best moving company” articles and directories linking to outdated pages. We created fresh, robust content showcasing why they were the best and reached out politely to request updating the links. This resulted in obtaining several high quality links their competitors previously enjoyed.
I will teach you how to identify such opportunities and craft effective link reclamation outreach emails resulting in a high conversion rate.
Link Insertion Outreach
Many websites, such as directories and review sites, allow you to claim or add your own listing. However, they often don’t make this easy to find. Link insertion involves identifying these opportunities and proactively reaching out to request adding your links.
For example, I significantly increased small business clients’ local citations by finding locally relevant directories accepting submissions. I will teach you how to find and leverage these opportunities at scale to build high quality local citations and links.
Conclusion
Link building remains a crucial component of effective SEO. Yet it’s no longer just about spamming low-quality directories. The most effective modern link building strategies entail creating truly compelling assets worth linking to naturally, conducting thoughtful outreach, and providing real value to publishers.
I’m excited to dive deep on these techniques and many more in my upcoming 2024 Mastering Link Building course.
